LOVE Where you’re At!

What up BZ and ALL!!!
Wow, just had to share that yestersay I had the gift of working at a school in Jackson Heights, the day after my adopted team El Tri beat mighty Germany! What a fantastic game! I instantly thought of my occasional when-I can-swing it Wednesday LIC Mexican Breakfast spot, (the people there are so warm, and the chef cooks with pure Love), and basked in their happiness.
So I hear there was an artificial earthquake created in Mexico City when they scored their goal. Integrate that. Love is no joke!! Moves mountains or something like that . (Ok, how awesome is discernment?)
Jackson Heights was the next best place I could be. What a happy place it was.The day flew by, which is not uncommon, lol. Awesomely Nice!
Today was another beautiful day in NYC! I feel like I mention the city in like everything I write, but it is such a part of me, on so many levels (9/11 Birthday Here ?, no worries, if the clowns only knew what that did to This Life and Heart, a story unto itself, but best believe I hold NYC Right in my Heart. Much Thanks, as messed up as that sounds, ), chief among them the soul infusing and uplifting, Rose/Redwood from concrete force that is Hip-Hop (also a story unto itself, lol, except to say that metaphors, Courage and Heart are a huge part of it….just sayin’, ).
Not to mention the day to day adventures, and the goodness of people. Did I mention how much I Love NYC? .
That being said, if those flashy folks I keep seeing in the sky (saw another at my parents place on LI on Father’s Day) whisked me away one night to the Midwest, down South, up North, out West, Europe, Asia or Africa? I’d be writing about there every time just the same, lol (All good btw, as long as I get to go back to Queens with at least 2 hrs sleep, haha). Loving it with my ALL.
A few weeks ago, I received a DVD in the mail from my fam in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It was my grandmother’s memorial service, which I just wasn’t able to get to, not for lack of trying. Now I haven’t watched it, and probably won’t, more for who she’s about than anything, if that makes sense. I do appreciate them sending it though, and send them Love as always.
She’s quite the woman, and had a mind as sharp as anything through all of her 105 years down here. She lived quite a life, to say the least.
Quick tale: A NYC (sorry!, lol) Woman clothing factory worker who didn’t speak a word of English when she arrived to Bk from Puerto Rico, who quickly learned….and spoke up so much, and advocated so hard for her fellow workers, male or female, no matter where they came from, that the sups made her a forewoman. In the 50’s. Guess Where? lol, jk. Amazing. ????
(Batshit crazy to me that Equality/Racism’s still a thing, well until NOW, as I’ve met countless people with her spirit, humor, wisdom, independence, inner/outer beauty (samey same, lol) and intelligence…..fantastic Leaders, Creators, Builders, Repairers, and Decision Makers. Just sayin’).
Thanks Candida!! Grandma Buela (Mom’s mom-who speaks to me clear as day when one of us needs to talk, but is with me every day, and yes, another story, lol) told me a week before she was getting ready to welcome you, and I know you’re chillin’. Still hear the Birdsong you’d sing as you went about your day, your Heart-song, and know you have something to do w these birds walking, hopping, lighting/leading, and flying in front and over me these days, everyday, lol. Also know it’s how you lived the life you did, Always listening to your heart. No worries, your Son’s in good hands, we got him. Thanks for Having Him, you raised a Great Man.
It does have me connecting today with Iowa, a place near and dear to my Heart. That crisp morning Iowa air, the deer just hanging on the lawns in the suburbs, the miles of open fields, corn as far as the eye can see. Replaying the walk I took through my cousin’s neighborhood, the amount of ‘Good Morning’s’ exchanged with people I’d never seen before. Forgetting to turn off the Iowa switch when I was back in Queens and having someone look at me like I had 3 heads when I Midwest ‘Good Mornin’d’ them, haha (sometimes it’s best to speak w your heart, and just say good morning w a nod or perhaps a telepathic broadcast, it counts, )
How proud my cousins are to be from there. How damn nice they are! Lol, jk, how they accept anyone you’re with as family though. The laughs. Good times at the Amana Farms. Meeting the minor league (and a few eventual major league as it turns out) baseball players my Aunt would house from the local Single A affiliate team, (a comfort of Language, Culture, and a Family’s Love for young kids far away from home for the first time, chasing their dreams…something I just Love about them so much). As much as I rep NYC, best believe I rep Iowa as well, with Love.
When you really get down to it, I just want everyone to see/discover/realize/remember/
LOVE Where you’re at! Here’s to another Beautiful Day!! ??
